Skin Cancer
The majority of skin cancer found on dogs and cats are benign; however, some can be malignant.
They are diagnosed by a procedure called a skin biopsy; the sample is submitted to a dermatohistopathologist who evaluates the sample under a microscope.
Depending on the type of cancer, therapy and care may remain with the veterinary dermatologist, or your pet may be referred to a veterinary oncologist or veterinary surgeon.
